Giving Back

Our Local Philanthropic Partners

Golden Isles Getaways is dedicated to protecting and preserving the Golden Isles by participating in the St. Simons Land Trust’s Pennies for Preservation program. Pennies for Preservation is a 1% giving program in which the business community helps raise funds to preserve and protect greenspaces, wilderness areas, trails, waterways, wildlife, important habitat, and tree canopy on St. Simons Island.

Golden Isles Getaways generously donates 1% of property revenue to this program. Your stay with Golden Isles Getaways turns pennies into protected acres.

100% of the 1% contributions goes directly to preserving 70 acres at the Land Trust’s Oatland-Hasell properties and helps create a wilderness corridor on St. Simons Island. The Oatland-Hasell properties are nestled within maritime forest that is thick with live oaks, pines, palmetto, and other indigenous coastal plants. The properties are contiguous with Cannon’s Point Preserve, an undeveloped, 644-acre wilderness tract that has historic significance, important habitat for rare plants and animals, and other high-value environmental features.

Thank you for helping us protect and preserve the Georgia coast

Communities In Schools of Glynn County is an affiliate of the nation’s largest dropout prevention organization. Nationally, there are over 1.4 million student served.

We place dedicated staff members called Site Coordinators in local schools where they build strong relationships with students, parents, educators, and community members. Our site coordinators identify barriers that prevent students from succeeding in school. The administrators and site coordinators will then work together to develop individual plans and build teams of support.

By bringing caring adults into schools to address children’s unmet needs, CIS provides the link between educators and the community. The result: teachers are free to teach, and students, many in jeopardy of dropping out, have the opportunity to focus on learning. Communities In Schools of Glynn County works hard to ensure that every child receives these “Five Basics”:

  • A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult

  • A safe place to learn and grow

  • A healthy start and a healthy future

  • A marketable skill to use upon graduation
